Put your money on white and you won’t go too far wrong this Christmas. Already nervous bookies are praying for a quick thaw but punters with cash on a Bing Crosby-style holiday are a-glow with rosy-cheeked optimism. With just days to go, it looks like being a white Christmas.
Gamblers love Christmas. Not only does it come with a built in ‘will it or won’t it’ bet but online casinos reach for the bonus baubles, trim out with teasing offers, and generally try to boost their festive bottom line with well-stuffed special offers.
More experienced punters should be able to pick the puddings and the turkeys out of the pack and the sharp player can add some real sparkle to his stack at this time of year.
The advent calendar promotion is ubiquitous with a daily offer, special feature, or free gift in the run up to Christmas Day. If you’re already playing at the casino, you may as well try and grab the extra goodies!
In fact, so many special offers just run in the background. Many are just window dressing and sometimes the ‘lucky winners’ have absolutely no idea why they have won (they are normally happy to take the prize though).
There’s an opportunity here. I’ve worked in the online gaming business for more than 10 years and special offers and promotions are often just the haunt of a handful of eager punters. The point is this: if you actually take a promo seriously, you might just win it.
We’re not talking ‘It Could Be You’, we’re talking a small casino with a $100 bonus for the player who wins the must blackjacks between 7PM and 9PM. Chances are that most of the players at the blackjack table won’t have a clue there’s even a promotion in play.
If you’re the sharp at the table and you keep your stakes low and you game in control, you could be the one to pocket the extra chunk of change. Someone has to win it. If they don’t announce a result, chances are that the marketing director passed out at the Christmas party and he might just give you the cash for asking.
Moral of the story: Christmas comes once a year with bonuses-a-plenty. Stay frosty and you could be the cool customer with the biggest sack when Santa comes-a-callin’
Happy Holidays
